A Legend Retires

Sat 06 February 2021

Steve Knight started work with the first of these 2 Champion Trainers, Richard Hannon Senior, on 9th January, 1989 and continued as Head Lad at our Everleigh yard under Richard Hannon Jnr since 2014. In the time he has worked for us, Steve has been an extremely vital part of our team, 32 years of loyal service. In that time Steve has travelled with our runners both in the UK and all over the world. Domestically over the 32 years that he has worked for us, we have had 37,694 runners, 4,838 winners, 55 Group 1 winners, over 300 Group 2/3 winners and memories that he and us will cherish forever. Steve can also claim to be a Grand National winning jockey, Maori Venture 1987, something few are able to say. Also in the years he has worked for the Hannon team, Steve has ridden some 27,435 Lots, amassing a total of  24,193 miles on horseback in the process. A valued man to whom we will be forever grateful and we wish him a long and happy retirement, even though we think he will be back on Monday morning to continue to add to those miles on our gallops before heading to the golf course to add more rounds to the total of 4,992 rounds that he has played in the small amount of spare time that we have afforded him over the last 32 years

Well done Badger, good job.
