Billesdon Brook Sadly Passes Away

Tue 10 May 2022

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of 1000 Guineas and multiple Group winner, Billesdon Brook.

Her racing career was highlighted by her 1000 Guineas win in 2018, giving her jockey Sean Levey the biggest success of his career to date. She went off at 66/1 and strode a length and three quarters clear of the field. She galloped into Guineas history by becoming the longest-priced runner to land this Classic in 210 years.

She won her connections over £755K in prize money and although she only won 7 races from 26 starts, it was quality over quantity as her impressive résumé also included the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes, Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes and the Group 3 Prestige Stakes.

She was retired back in 2020 to the stud where she was born and bred, Stowell Hill Stud and in January this year she foaled her firstborn, a beautiful colt by Dubawi.

“She was an absolute pleasure to be involved with and meant a great deal to everyone in the yard. She did so much for us and made us all so very proud. Our thoughts are with her owners and their excellent staff” – Richard Hannon
