Brook Bolts Up

Thu 06 July 2017

Another across the card double for the team coming from Bath and Kempton last night made for a successful day. The first of those came at Kempton under Ryan Moore in the second race on the card. BILLESDON BROOK was coming there with some solid form having been beaten by two nice fillies, one finishing second in the Chesham behind September. The Pall Mall Partners owned filly was sent forward to sit in behind the leaders. She travelled well in running and when asked to pick up she did so in impressive fashion going away by six lengths. ‘She has always been a nice filly and showed her class early on when running well in the fillies conditions stakes at Salisbury over five furlongs. The further she goes the better she goes and I don’t think we have seen the best of her yet. There will be more improvement to come and she definitely has the class to pick up some black type along the line.’ She won well over the seven furlongs there last night and based on her pedigree will have no trouble getting further.

The second winner of the night came at Bath in the second last. FANFAIR a daughter of Royal Applause was coming off the back of a couple of promising efforts at Brighton. She was only beaten half a length on both occasions and came into this race with every chance. She was sent forward and again sat close to the speed. She picked up well inside the final two furlongs and had the race won in the last half furlong. ‘She has been running well without winning and this race looked ideal. The trip suited today but I also think she is equally good over a mile. From this she should be very capable of winning another.’

PILLAR OF SOCIETY was very unlucky not to win at Bath. The race came down to the wire and the eventual winner had his head down at the right time. ‘He has run very well again on ground that wasn’t ideal. He remains in good form and should be winning again soon.’

Racing today comes from Haydock, Newbury and Epsom. Richard has fourteen runners up and down the country. This is a big day for the two year olds with ten stepping out. The first nursery of the year takes place at Haydock and Richard has two runners. ‘JUNE DOG and BODYBUILDER both go there with nice chances and it will be interesting to see how the form works out in handicap company.’
