ESTIDHKAAR BRINGS HOME THE ONE-TWO

Mon 31 October 2016

A nice treble saw out a successful day for the team at Richard Hannons stables. The first of those came in the Listed Ben Marshall Stakes with ESTIDHKAAR taking the honours over KOOL KOMPANY in what was a thrilling one-two for the yard. The winner was having his second run back after a long lay off and it looked like he was nearly back to his best at Newmarket. Sean set an even tempo on the front end with the recently returned Kool Kompany also having his second start back having come back from Australia. The Craven winner last year moved well on the front end and looked like holding off Estidkhaar but for Dane O’Neill pulling out all the stops to win well up to the line. ‘Kool Kompany lost nothing in defeat and is a horse who looks right back to his best on that effort. He has won on good to firm ground and I think we will head to Dubai with him over the winter with a fresh horse. Estidhkaar was well away and picked up nicely late on to win, I will put him away now and he can start off either in the Sandown Mile or head straight to the Lockinge.’

The other two winners came from Chelmsford with SUNSET DREAM returning to the place she won her maiden, and SAN SOUCI BAY the other one, who looks to have improved plenty. He was third in a hot maiden at Windsor where the eventual winner went on to win the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin. ‘They both won well in the end and should both have some progression on the all weather during the winter.’

Todays action comes from Kempton, DICK TRACY is looking to get back to his form when he was second at York, WAR WHISPER and TORMENT are the other two.
