Fred Darling winner Marenko takes her chance in the Oak Tree Stakes
The action today is focused at Glorious Goodwood for the fourth day of the festival. Richard heads there with four runners. A quieter day there but we have other runners at Newmarket, Bath and Thirsk to look forward to.
The Thoroughbred Stakes is where TONY CURTIS and LIGHT UP OUR WORLD take their chance. The aforementioned TONY CURTIS has been off the track for a while but his two year old form was solid having won the Listed Stonehenge Stakes. ‘He has had some niggling issues, keeping him off the track but I am now happy with him. He should come on from whatever he does today but we will get a good guide of where to go next. This is a different kettle of fish today for LIGHT UP OUR WORLD as she won on soft ground at Sandown last time. She has however run well here before but this is a tougher race.’
In the nursery BUSKIN RIVER takes his turn from out of the handicap. ‘He could run a nice race with no weight on his back, however I need to see him do it on the rack first. He has drawn the right side but this is always a tricky race to win.’ MARENKO is the other runner on the day and is in the Oak Tree Stakes. ‘I think she will appreciate the drop back in class. She won well at Chelmsford in the Fred Darling in impressive fashion but then found them all too good in the Coronation.’
COULSTY is up at Thirsk in the Conditions event on the card. ‘He should have a nice chance in a weaker race than he’s been running in all year. He has won three times on the firmer going and the track should suit him, so I can’t see why he wouldn’t go very close.’
