Greatwood Charity Day

Tue 12 February 2019

As we get ever closer to the start of the flat season, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about a charity that has always been very close to my heart. The Greatwood Charity was the first charity that uses retired racehorses to help disadvantaged children and young adults with Special Educational Needs. They were founded in 1998 and are there to help those horses that have been retired from racing for whatever reason. This gives them another chance of life after racing and also gives these young vulnerable people a chance to create relationships with these horses and improve their social skills. I am a big believer in finding homes for my horses once they have finished racing and this is the perfect opportunity for them to help in the community and giving them a purpose.

On March 2nd this year there will be a Greatwood Charity Day at Newbury Racecourse. This is a great opportunity to raise money for a wonderful charity. If you can attend there is a wonderful lunch where there will of course be great company. This is a great event to support the charity but even if you cannot attend they would of course be very grateful for any charitable donations. Please contact helen.yeadon@greatwoodcharity.org for any questions or to book a place or alternatively call 01672 514535. It is a fantastic day out with great racing at a top class venue
