Guineas Final Workouts

Tue 02 May 2017

Barney Roy

The final pieces of work are done and dusted for the Guineas pair and they both came through with flying colours. 'I gave them both a little blow out this morning and I couldn't have been happier with them. BARNEY ROY is a horse we have been very excited about for a long time and he confirmed our views in impressive style when taking the Greenham. He still ran a bit green that day and I believe the step up in trip and the extra experience will stand him in good stead. I am very pleased for Sheikh Mohammed and Godolphin that I can take a horse of his quality to the race.

LARCHMONT LAD my other runner who is now owned by Cheveley Park Stud worked very nicely today and has definitely come on from his first run at Newmarket. He was on the wrong side of the track that day and got tired over the last furlong. He seems to be in much better order and I expect a bolder sighting of him on the big day.'

With the field getting smaller by the day and possibly only around eleven that will be left in final declarations Richard shares his thoughts on the race. 'My pair are exactly where I want them and I believe I have a strong hand. Barney Roy just keeps on improving and he could be anything in the future. The race itself is based around the top four in the market. I am heading there with an open mind and hope for the best result.'

The stable have started quickly out the gates this year and hopefully that can continue with a big weekend ahead.
