Happy Romance Goes For Group 1 Glory

Fri 15 October 2021

We’re all very excited to see HAPPY ROMANCE line up in the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes on Saturday, in what looks an open renewal. It’s hard to emphasise how well she is at home both in her work and her general wellbeing, and it seems as if everything is in her favour with the rain staying away from Ascot for the time being. There’s no doubt that she deserves her place in this line up, with the form of her run last time out at Haydock tying in well with some of the market principles in this field. There’s some good pace on show so tactically we hope that all will be fine for her and with Sean Levey on board, the dynamic duo will hope to cap off what has already been a fine campaign

Oh This Is Us/Nugget

The finale of Champions Day comes in the form of the Balmoral handicap, and we send two horses both with a tremendous amount of ability but at different stages of their careers. The Highclere Thoroughbred-owned NUGGET looks a cracking type for this race, as he has a really progressive profile and has not been out of the placings since his debut run. After a summer break he came back to land a tricky handicap off top weight last time out and there is serious scope for improvement, and with Ryan Moore in the saddle on this occasion there is enough to suggest that it could come to land this valuable contest.

It would be foolish to rule out stable stalwart OH THIS IS US, who comes into this contest after narrowly going down in a Listed contest at Redcar. He didn’t have much luck that day and a repeat of that performance would have him bang there. He looks an absolute picture at home and is in top form so we have high hopes of a serious run for owners Team Wallop, which would cap off a cracking week for the group after having a winner at York last Saturday.
