Khafoo Leads From Start To Finish In The Heron

Fri 26 May 2017

Sandown’s evening meeting never fails to deliver and the weather was turned on for the occasion. KHAFOO SHEMEMI won the Listed Heron Stakes under a very well executed ride by the champion jockey Ryan Moore and brings up Richards seventh black type success of the year so far with only a fraction of the season completed. The horses continue in great form and BOYCIE who won on the opening day of the season scored again under the same rider in the opener. ‘He has improved this year and continues in great form. He didn’t get much luck on his last couple of starts but it all fell right today. Tina gave him a lovely ride and she is a girl on the way up.’

Saeed Suhail’s colt was the winner of the Easter Stakes at Kempton but didn’t look to handle the straight track of Ascot last time in handicap company. ‘He seems to go much better around a bend where we can get a breather into him. He is always doing a bit too much in the early stages and on a straight track he never seems to relax. He has plenty of options going forward including the Celebration Mile later on in the year.’

Today’s action comes from three tracks for Richard, Haydock, Bath and Goodwood. The action at Haydock sees the debut of AL FUJAIRAH, the son of Showcasing. ‘He has been working very well at home and should make a bold bid today. The majority of our two year olds come on for the run so I expect him to improve plenty for the experience.’ MONEYORYOURLIFE would be the other chance up there and is fancied with conditions looking ideal.

Goodwood is where we have three runners with BRAZTIME and FLYING NORTH going ahead in the fillies handicap. ‘Both would have a nice chance and appear in great order. This is more competitive but they should have no problem handling the track.’ WAR WHISPER is taking his chance in the seven furlong handicap and looks ready to run a race after an encouraging reappearance at Ascot last time
