Weekend Action

Tupi

After a good weekend last week where there were a few potential stars on show, the team have runners at four different meetings tomorrow including Newbury for the Weatherbys Super Sprint.

The action starts at Newbury with MAJESTE in the Class 2 Handicap. ‘He has been gelded since his last run and I hope that has done the trick. He appears to have been working well at home but he is off a very high mark so I would need to see him run well before I can make further comment.’

Two runners in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes include EQTIRAAN and TUPI. ‘Eqtiraan won nicely last time at Salisbury in a Listed event over this trip. He appeared to suit the way he was ridden as he was only allowed to get there late on. He is in great order and as long as it doesn’t come up too soft he should run well. Tupi is another who I hope there isn’t too much rain for him. He has been in great form this year winning the Cammidge Trophy at the beginning of the year before running extremely well in the Diamond Jubilee. If he is up to his best he should take plenty of beating but I hope the ground doesn’t get too soft for him.’

With three runners in the Weatherbys Super Sprint their chances look tough in the market. ZALSHAH has run well a couple of times this year but disappointed last time. ‘He didn’t like the soft ground last time at Lingfield. He can deal with cut but doesn’t want too soft. He has plenty of speed and will be allowed to roll along. He is a nice horse but this looks a tough test for him.’ GLACEON is a filly who has showed some promise and hopefully can run better than her mark suggests. ‘She has worked very well at home but hasn’t done it on the track yet. She might have a small chance of finishing in the money but I hope she can bring her A game.’ The final runner is LEXINGTON GRACE for Middleham Park Racing. ‘She has had plenty of runs and would be one of the most experienced in the field. She has been running over further but I have put the blinkers on here and hopefully she will be passing horses late on. She appears in good order.’

Today’s racing comes from Newbury and Newmarket and this includes NATURAL in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes over six furlongs. ‘She was a bit disappointing at Ascot last time but she has been working well since then. I would expect her to run a big race today as she looks to have strengthened up again.’
