Denaar Looks One To Watch

Tue 09 May 2017

A very smart debut was made by the recently acquired DENAAR at Chelmsford in the 2yrs Novice Stakes. The son of Acclamation was bought at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale for Al Shaqab Racing and matches a very similar profile to last year’s two year old star MEHMAS. ‘He was a standout at the sales and I thought after last year’s success we had to have him. His profile is very similar to Mehmas and he looks a lot like him. This was a very promising debut and he should improve again for the run. The options will be either Newbury or Sandown after this. His work has been very impressive at home and he is one to keep an eye on this season.’

Today’s racing comes from Leicester where Richard is sending three runners to post. GHEPARDO, a daughter of Havana Gold is having her second start having showed plenty of promise on her only start to date. ‘She looked very sharp at Bath on her debut before getting tired up to the line. That should have brought her on plenty and I can see her going very close today. There are more runners in her race than she faced at Bath but the experience should stand her in good stead.’

Two fillies are heading to post in the second race, which is a fillies handicap. Last start winner TAI HANG DRAGON and LIMELITE are the two stable representatives. ‘Tai Hang Dragon has shown a good turn of foot on her previous two wins and should have no trouble dealing with the drop back to six furlongs. It’s her first time running on grass but she has worked well on it at home and I can’t see that being a problem. Limelite has been a bit disappointing since her debut when she ran a nice third at Goodwood. She appears in great form at home and it wouldn’t surprise me if she ran a big race but I am not too sure what filly will turn up on the day.’
