GOOD FRIDAY

Thu 29 March 2018

Good Friday sees the end of the all-weather season and is an even bigger sign that the flat is on our door step. Doncaster last weekend was very wet and conditions are meant to be much the same at Bath tomorrow which is hosting the second turf meeting of the year. Richard is sending two runners to post including the first two year old of the year. DIXIELAND is a son of Red Jazz and owned by Chris Giles and Jared Sullivan ‘He has gone well in a couple of strong bits of work including on soft ground. This is our first runner so this will give us a good guide for the future but I am hopeful he can run a big race if he handles the ground.’

The second runner at Bath is TONY CURTIS in the big Mile Handicap in which Oh This Is Us won last year. Tony Curtis is coming back from his winter break having run a very good second at Glorious Goodwood last year. ‘I can’t see him having any issues with the ground and I feel the horse is in great form. This looks the ideal spot to start him off in and I am hoping for a big run.’

At Lingfield there is a pair in the Apprentice Handicap. Last week’s winner WAHASH returns to the scene of the crime to take his chance under Gary Mahon. ‘He won well last week and I can’t see him having any problems dropping back to seven furlongs. Gary is a very good rider and I expect a bold bid from him.’ WAR GLORY is the other runner in the field and is ridden by Rossa Ryan. ‘He has drawn the car park but he has been well at home. He will more than likely come on for the run but he did run well in this race last year.’
