Mojo shows more star quality

Wed 15 September 2021

We were absolutely thrilled with MOJO STAR's performance in the St Leger at Doncaster on Saturday. Given a positive ride by Rossa Ryan he travelled superbly on the front end throughout. Although the short priced favourite, Hurricane Lane, had an extra gear towards the finish, Mojo kept on strongly to come a creditable second well clear of the third placed horse. He has proved once again that he is a top class horse with a bright future as a stayer for next year. Many congratulations to Amo Racing and connections.

In terms of where he goes next, Richard said “He’s come out of the race fine and he’ll probably run again (this year). He has loads of options. He’s entered in races abroad and here – he’s in the two-mile race on Champions Day. It’s all about next year, but he will have one more run this year.”

It was great to see DESERT ANGEL win the opening race at Doncaster on Leger day and record a first career success. The step up to 1 mile and the application of blinkers helped her come home in front under a strong Hollie Doyle for owner Ziad A Galadari.

Meanwhile at Lingfield FANCY MAN got off the mark for 2021. Having run some good races this season he has run into one or two and kept hitting the cross bar. This drop back in grade looked a good opportunity to get his head back in front and despite being rather taken on throughout the contest he did enough where it mattered to win by half a length for Mr Michael Pescod.
