Mouille Point Scores On Handicap Debut

Wed 03 May 2017

A first victory for the daughter of Motivator on handicap debut in the shape of MOUILLE POINT, who is owned by Markus Jooste and was ridden by Pat Dobbs. She finally found her seat in behind the leaders before taking up the running with a quarter mile to go and drawing nicely clear with another rival, holding on gamely in the closing stages. ‘She has always been a nice filly but has always wanted to do things in a rush. With racing I think she is now starting to relax and allow herself to finish off. She is bred to get this trip, and further, so the more she helps us the more she will progress. I can see no reason why she won’t continue on this upward spiral.’

Richard has a nice hand of runners at Ascot today starting with a two year old debutant. TANGLED is a son of Society Rock who has had a very good start to his stallion career. Although he is no longer alive his progeny are proving a real credit to what was a very talented racehorse. ‘I am very pleased with this colt, most of ours are needing their first run this year but he has been showing enough at home and should make a bold showing. He is a lovely looking horse.’

The two fillies in the condition races both come here wrong at the weights. ‘They both appear in good order. FLEETING MOTION won on her last start at Doncaster and looks very progressive. She has come in her coat and has been working well and I expect her to be a filly we will have fun with this year. SOLDIERS GIRL ran a couple of nice races last year and being a big filly has done plenty of filling out over the winter. She will be much stronger this year.’

LEGENDARY LUNCH is making his seasonal reappearance after running some strong races last year. ‘He won the Woodcote and was placed in the Flying Childers. ‘He was a very sharp two year old and today will be a big test as to whether he has actually trained on or not.’ TABARRAK is the other runner coming back off a very good run at Newmarket. ‘This track will be much more up his street and he should be very competitive. He is in great order at home and I look forward to pitching him in at this level for the first time.’
