Regimented Rules On Debut

Thu 27 July 2017

Runners at three different tracks on Wednesday reaped rewards all around. With only a small team of runners heading to post there were three winners from just seven runners including a short head second. The first winner of the day came at Lingfield with REGIMENTED. The Mason Brown Partnership owned colt by Epaulette was making his debut and went off a big priced chance. He was always to the fore under a positive ride from Kieran O’Neill and won well in the end. ‘He is a colt we have done very little with at home. He has worked well but I always thought he would need the run today. He has done it very nicely and I would expect plenty of improvement from this effort. I will work out a plan in the coming days as to where he will most likely head next.’

Bath saw SEE THE SEA win her first race of her career. With first time cheek pieces on and a handy seven pound claimer this proved the recipe for success. She was sent forward and never saw another horse for the entire race. ‘She has been idling a bit in her races and she needs some more encouragement. The head gear has helped and I can see her going on from this and hopefully winning a few more. It’s great to have another winner for Middleham Park Racing.’
The final winner of the day came from Sandown. ALMOREB was running for the first time back on soft ground since his maiden win. He went off the favourite on the day and proved it in the race. He was the last one off the bridle and stuck on really well up to the line. ‘He is a lovely horse who maybe hasn’t been letting himself down on the firmer surfaces. He loved the conditions today and still has plenty of progress. He will no doubt make a nice horse for next year.’ BATHSEHBA BAY was the unlucky second in the Novice Stakes under Sean Levey. He was taken back in the early stages in what was a slowly run affair and he came there strongly in the final furlong to go down by a short head. ‘He was unlucky as he got slightly put off by the eventual winner coming across. He is still very green and I would expect him to improve again. He should be very hard to beat next time.’

Runner’s today from Doncaster, Sandown and Newbury this evening. A solid team heading to post and hopefully a few winners among them.
