Tajaanus takes her chance in the Group3 Sweet Solera Stakes
Another Saturday race card where Richard has runners up and down the country. He is covering four meetings including the Shergar Cup at Ascot. The sole runner at the Berkshire venue is REPTON who is making his seasonal reappearance and has been off the track for ten months. ‘He has had a few niggling issues this year but he is back and ready to go. His work has been solid and I am hopeful he can run a nice race. He will come on for the run but as long as he hitting the line I will be happy.’
Up at Haydock there are four runners heading to post including two in the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes. LARCHMONT LAD and EUGINIO are taking their chances on ground that has been officially described as Good to Soft. ‘Larchmont Lad was disappointing last time at Newmarket having run very well previously in Listed company on the Rowley Mile. Both Pat and Ryan have suggested he needs stepping up to a mile and a quarter and the ground should be ideal for him. Off some of his previous form he would have a nice chance of finishing in the first four. Euginio won well last time at Sandown and looks to be on an upward spiral. I pulled him out at Goodwood because the ground went very soft and I am hopeful the ground will remain as it is at Haydock. He has been working well and again I would be very happy if he could get into the first four.’
The other major meeting on Saturday is at Newmarket where they have the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes. With two nice fillies in the line-up for Richard they both look to have live chances. ‘TAJAANUS was the winner of the Listed Star Stakes last time at Sandown and seems to be improving with every run. She won’t mind the ground and the form has been franked from her last start. She remains in great order and I would expect a bold run. MAYYASAH is making a big step up in class from her Novice win at Newbury but she was very impressive that day. She is a lovely filly with plenty of scope and seems to have improved from that run. She also shouldn’t mind the ground and will be right there on the line.’
Also at Newmarket is WAR GLORY in the seven furlong handicap. ‘He ran very well last time at Goodwood on desperate ground and seems to be getting the hang of the turf now. He remains in good order and should be competitive again.’
