Storm Blew Over Milan

Mon 17 October 2016

With just the one runner in Italy, that's all it took to take the Premio Jockey Club Group One for Middleham Park at the San Siro racecourse in Milan. VENTURA STORM the son of Coolmore Stallion Zoffany was coming off the back of a solid run in the Ladbrokes St Leger, where he had his head in front most of the way up the straight, just getting caught on the line. 'Some people say he didn't stay, which I am inclined to believe but he was right there till the dying strides and I thought we were going to win a St Leger.' Having had over a month between runs he went there with leading claims being sent off the 6/5 Favourite with a few other English raiders in the field. The local jockey Christian Demuro had him to the fore, sat in behind the leaders. 'He had him beautifully positioned and got going on him early up the straight but he responded well to fight off the challenge of the Italians main hope. It's fantastic for the team to have another Group One winner and having run so well all year he deserved to bag a decent prize. There are no plans yet for him, but he appears to have pulled up really well from the run.'
