Sun Power Brings Home The Treble

Tue 04 June 2019

Fresh off the back of Saturday’s success, the wins continued to roll in for Team Hannon on Monday with another three winners added to the tally. First to score on the day was the 3yo colt Cracking Speed at Brighton. The son of Alhebayeb contested the Class 6 Handicap over 6 furlongs in which he stalked the leader throughout before taking control of the race with a furlong to go to record a dominant first win.

Fellow stable mate Orliko also made the journey to Brighton and three races later made it a winning double for the yard. The 3yo son of Kodiac relished the step up in distance to the mile and made all the running leading the field from start to finish. Having fought off all challenges right to the line, it was a most defiant first win with the gelding holding on to win by a neck margin. His first start since being stepped up from his previous distance of 7 furlongs, Orliko also has benefited from being gelded since his last start at Newmarket in May.

Not stopping there, Team Hannon saddled a third winner for the day in the form of promising 2yo colt Sun Power in the 6-furlong 2yo novice stakes on the all-weather track at Wolverhampton. After a credible fifth placing on debut over 5 furlongs at York in May, the son of Night Of Thunder was quick to put himself in contention before being positioned in behind the leaders. Making his run with a furlong to go, the colt was able to easily put pay to his rivals and surge to a 2-length win.

Another two runners for the stable on Monday came agonizingly close to further adding to the scoreboard, with Mr Tyrell running second in a photo by the narrowest of margins and Naughty Rascal gamely finishing in second place at Windsor. It has certainly been a rewarding week so far for the team with the promise of more to come over the coming days.

Congratulations to Dragon Gate, Axom Lxxv and King Power Racing.
