The Final Act For Mehmas

Fri 23 September 2016

Mehmas

Good racing from Newmarket on Saturday and MEHMAS is having his final start in the Middle Park Stakes under Frankie Dettori. ‘I will miss him when he goes as he has been a real stable star this year. He has been ultra-consistent all year winning both the Gr2 July Stakes and the Gr2 Richmond Stakes. His last start at the Curragh finishing second in the Gr1 National Stakes was another great effort. He is so tough and back down to his favoured distance I can see him running a huge race tomorrow now back on level weights with Blue Point. He has always been a stand out from the day I saw him at Newmarket and has been an absolute pleasure to train.’

Other runners from Newmarket include OH THIS IS US and WAR WHISPER in the seven furlong handicap. ‘Oh This Is Us has been great this year winning four times and picking up some valuable prizes. He should be ideally suited at the seven furlongs and has won at this track before. I can see him running very well again. War Whisper was unlucky last time but Sean wasn’t hard on him when he didn’t get much luck. He will improve plenty for that run and has worked exceptionally well since. He is there to run a big race.’

There are some maidens stepping out tomorrow at Haydock in the shape of BARNEY ROY and ROCKSHINE. ‘Barney Roy is having his first start and has always looked like being a very nice horse. He will improve plenty for the run but I think he is capable of winning first up. Rockshine is the sister to Light Up Our World and ran very credibly first up at Ascot. With that experience under her belt I can see her going very close here today.’
