Yoshinari Proves Too Strong On Debut

Wed 01 March 2017

There was a nice debut made by a son of Helmet at Lingfield last Saturday in the shape of MORI YOSHINARI. He was having his first run under Tom Marquand in a Mile Maiden and looked to make a good impression. He was slow away from the stalls but made up ground to sit midfield and rounding for home he was driven along, making up nice headway to get past the eventual second late on. He went away by half a length and looks a useful proposition. ‘He won well in the end and will improve plenty for the run, albeit he was slow away but he picked up nicely late on and could be a nice horse for the turf. He had been working well at home, so I thought he would run well. It is satisfying when they win first up knowing they will improve plenty for their second run.’

A quiet week on the runners front with only NO NOT AGAIN tomorrow at Chelmsford in over a mile. ‘He was a bit disappointing last time but I hope with a positive ride around there he should finish much closer.’

There is plenty going on at home with horses getting ready for the season ahead. A nice team of older horses, who should improve with a winter under their belt and a lovely bunch of two year olds who will start during the month of March to increase their workload.
