Coulsty

Friday at Glorious Goodwood was a quiet day in terms of runners for Richard but the results were pleasing. LIGHT UP OUR WORLD a daughter of Zoffany, owned and bred by Derek Boocock, coming off the back of her Listed Distaff win at Sandown on soft ground came to Goodwood in the Gr3 Thoroughbred Stakes and looked the winner at the furlong pole only to get caught late on. She held on to finish third in a hotly contested renewal of the race. 'She is tough as they come and seems like she is really coming to herself. She is showing her versatility in regards to ground and should be capable of winning a group race against the fillies this year. TONY CURTIS was my other runner and having been off the track a long time he ran an enormous race to finish fifth running home late. He is right back to his best and should be winning some nice races in the second half of this year.'

Another treble was on the cards elsewhere backing up the previous day's treble. Thirsk was the scene for two of these, with BISMARCK THE FLYER winning the first race and COULSTY winning the Conditions race on the card. 'The later has always been a good horse who just needed a confidence booster like that today. He will now step back up to Listed and Group company. There are some races over in Deauville during August and that's where we will head. The first winner won impressively having previously disappointed albeit in lesser company.'

The final meeting of the day came from Newmarket and MONOSHKA went on to confirm the promise of his first run at Newbury. The form was franked with the second horse wining a group two in France. 'He won well in the end and looks like he will appreciate the step up to seven furlongs. He may have found the Ascot race last time come a bit quick, so I am glad he was back to his best. He is a nice son of Kodiac owned by Michael Geoghegan. I will look for a nice nursery in a few weeks for him'
