Doncaster Is Back

Fri 23 March 2018

The first day of turf racing in the English Flat season begins tomorrow at Doncaster with the Lincoln being the main event.

Richard has seven runners up and down the country with three at the feature meeting. TABARRAK takes his chance in the Listed Doncaster Mile where Jim Crowley takes the ride. With only a small number of runners in the field and the ground looking like it will remain in the soft territory, Tabarrak heads there with a nice chance. ‘I am very happy with how he is working at home and I feel if he can show anything like he did last year he should run very well. He has run well on softer surfaces before and I am confident he will be able to deal with it tomorrow.’ The other runners at Doncaster include MONEYORYOURLIFE and BOYCIE in the Apprentice Handicap at the end of the day that has been split. ‘Boycie won this last year and I feel he should be able to run well again. Moneyoryourlife is in good form at home and seems to like this ground and this trip. He should be very competitive and I think with the run under his belt he should strip fitter.’

Three runners take their place at Lingfield. SALLAB has been off for the winter but looks to have found a nice opportunity here in a mile Novice event. ‘He has done well on his break and I hope he can convert on his first start.’ WAHASH is back to the scene of the crime where he won last year and also down in class. ‘He has done very well and has worked nicely a couple of times. Back down in grade this looks a great place to get him started. He may need the run but he should be right there at the finish.’ TOMILY ran a cracking race last time and seems to cope with Lingfield really well. ‘He is such a tough little horse and if he runs anything like he did the other day he should get involved.’

Tomily's full brother managed to win nicely yesterday at Wolverhampton under Gary Mahon. ‘DRAKEFELL won smartly there today and should continue to progress. He has done everything nicely and put the race to bed in good fashion.’
The last runner of the day is at Wolverhampton where ATEEM takes his spot. After a couple of solid efforts last year if he can match that form this should be nice and easy for him. ‘He has been working well and so I would expect a bold showing from him.’
