Doncaster Unibet Blog Day 1

Tue 11 September 2018

As most of you will know, I am a @unibetracing ambassdor and I will be writing daily blogs during the Doncaster St Leger Fesitval. Below are my thoughts on the horses I have heading to post on Day 1

We head into day one of the St Leger Festival relatively quiet but we’ll have more runners towards the end of the week, culminating with Raymond Tusk in the big one itself on Saturday

MANY people have been in touch after our plane accident at Haydock last Saturday so I’d like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and messages. Thankfully no one was injured, which is quite remarkable when you see how badly aircraft came off, but we all live to fight another day and I was able to go home and see my family that evening which was the most important thing of all.

Just two runners representing the team on Wednesday at Town Moor and my thoughts on their chances are below.

DONCASTER – WEDNESDAY

3:35 – Leger Legends Stakes
Cheeky Rascal (Timmy Murphy)

It’s great to be supporting this race and it has become part and parcel of the meeting so I’m delighted to have a runner. Timmy Murphy is a first class jockey who hasn’t long retired so should still retain plenty of fitness. He rides out every day for us and knows this horse well so they should have a good spin around. Cheeky Rascal is probably better over a little further but with lots of unfit (ex) jockeys including the likes of Luke Harvey, who will probably struggle to hold his horse early on, there should be plenty of pace which will really suit our horse! It’s all for a bit of fun but our runner is in good form at home and looks to be quite well drawn as well so I wouldn’t put you off sticking a fiver on.

4:40
Euginio (Ryan Moore)

He won over course and distance at this meeting last year in a Handicap but he looks very well treated in this conditions race where he is receiving weight from a horse rated lower than him so you’d have to be quite hopeful here. The small field will help and Ryan Moore is an obvious plus. He goes on any ground and his form is more than good enough to see him win this. He has a huge chance.

Keep an eye out on Twitter @unibetracing for all my racing blogs!
