As most of you will know, I am a @unibetracing ambassdor and I will be writing daily blogs during the Doncaster St Leger Fesitval. Below are my thoughts on the horses I have heading to post on Day 3
Four runners on Day 3 of the St Leger Festival including three in the Sceptre Stakes
1:50 G3 Sceptre Stakes
Anna Nerium (Tom Marquand)
The ground will be absolutely perfect for her as she likes to get her toe in and she has come out of Goodwood in great shape. She’s well clear on official ratings and this trip seems her optimum so there is lots to like about her credentials here. We are looking at going to America next month so she would need to perform well here if that is to remain in the equation.
Pepita (William Buick)
I think think this trip suits her best and any give in the ground will be a major plus. She probably found Pontefract a little too tight (over 6f) last time so she will be much happier back on a more galloping track. Her official mark leaves her with a little bit to find but she’s in grand form at home and deserves to take her chance.
All Out (Jimmy Quinn)
The last time she ran over this trip was in the Fred Darling behind the re-opposing Dan’s Dream and to be honest I don’t think she’s had her ground all season so I’d be looking for a much better run on this surface. Her form is more than good enough to go close here and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of her. I wouldn’t write her off at decent odds.
2:25 G2 Flying Childers
Well Done Fox (James Doyle)
I have a lot of time for this horse and he’s gradually becoming a talented performer. I don’t think he was disgraced in the Molecomb at Goodwood and then he won nicely at York after that. This year’s renewal looks pretty hot but our horse is improving with every run and I see no reason why he can’t go well in a race we have a good record in.
