Goodwood Double!

Armor

We sent three to Goodwood today and came home with two winners and a third. Of course we would have liked to have seen the lovely Snow Lantern come home in front but it wasn't meant to be and after having a bit of troubled passage inside the final couple of furlongs she stayed on very strongly to finish 3rd beaten just three lengths. As Richard said "her best days are ahead of her, not behind her" so we can look forward to that.

ARMOR was our first winner of the day, bolting up in the Molecomb stakes under Ryan Moore for Al Shaqab Racing. Having run a creditable 5th in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot he took a big step forward to reverse the form with his rivals and win by an impressive 3 1/4 lengths. Richard said "Ryan said he would go like that – I think he knows what he’s on about – and he did. I’ve not made too many flash entries for him, but we’ll look at something like the Morny now, Flying Childers. He should make a nice three-year-old, he’s not a big horse and this is his year right now. If that happens, great, but he’s doing enough right now. He’ll get six, you have to go six if you’re going to go up.”

MAGICAL WISH landed the double for Middleham Park Racing under Pat Dobbs. Having run some nice races in defeat this season he was due a win and given that he was a close second in this race last year off 7lbs higher he was probably overpriced at 12/1. He travelled smoothly into the race and kept on well inside the last furlong to lead in the final strides (despite trying to bite his rivals along the way...!)

We love Goodwood!
