Group 1 Glory For Rosallion

Mon 02 October 2023

Rosallion delivered a seriously top-class performance in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at ParisLongchamp yesterday, proving just how outstanding he is. It was of course a perfect ride once again by Sean Levey, who said that the colt “felt exceptional” to him.

The soft ground at Doncaster did not suit him last time out, but Rosallion returned better than ever on Arc Day. We have held him in very high regard since he came in to us and are so proud of his achievements to date. He even beat the track record for the fastest time recorded for this race and provided Darley’s exceptional first-crop sire, Blue Point, with his first Group 1 winner.

Congratulations to owner-breeder Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum on this glorious win. All roads lead to the Guineas now!

A massive well done to everyone at home as well, let the celebrations begin!

Our second winner of the weekend was Mr Baloo at Epsom, who brought home back-to-back wins for his owners SDM Partnership & Partner. He was prominent throughout the race and stayed on well under Pat Dobbs to win again just two weeks after his last run at Salisbury. This two-year-old son of Kodi Bear has truly found his feet over 7f and we look forward to seeing what is still to come from him.

We are of course also incredibly proud of Shouldvebeenaring’s effort in the G1 Prix de la Foret, where he landed a valiant 3rd place behind Kelina and Kinross. He has been ever consistent and has now placed in two Group 1 races, the other having been the Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock. It was a tremendous ride from Sean Levey and a fantastic achievement for the whole Middleham Park Racing team to celebrate!

Happy Romance also gave it her best shot and finished 7th in the same race. She has been a fantastic mare for the McMurray family and we hope they enjoyed a great Arc weekend.

The G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein wasn’t meant to be for Witch Hunter but he has tried incredibly hard all year and has given his owner William Stobart many fantastic days out, including his G2 win in the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.

It was a weekend of very good racing and we are truly proud of all our runners and our whole team!
