Larchmont Impresses On Debut

Sat 02 July 2016

This week there have been a couple of handy 2yrs winners. LARCHMONT LAD a son of Footstepsinthesand owned by Michael Geoghegan was the impressive winner of the seven furlong Maiden at Sandown yesterday. He pulled well clear of the second placed horse, easing down towards the line. 'He is a lovely colt who I will expect to improve plenty for the experience. He got a bit lost half way, but he was impressive when he hit the rising ground. I will see how he is in the next week before deciding where to go next.'

The Newbury evening meeting on Thursday was where MUTAWATHEB got his head in front on the second time of asking. 'He is owned by Sheikh Hamdan and has always been a stand out Colt. He needed his first run and showed the necessary improvement to win at Newbury. He will have some nice entries, but I will speak to the team before deciding where to head next.'

I have a busy day ahead with runners at four different tracks. The weather is still not allowing for any dry tracks yet, but hopefully some of ours can run nice races. COULSTY at Haydock will be my best chance today in the six furlong conditions race.
