The Cloud storms home at Salisbury

Mon 02 May 2016

The feature event of the day at Salisbury was the two year old fillies conditions race over the minimum trip. Previous winners included the Group 1 winning Tiggy Wiggy and the Group 2 winner, Group 1 placed Illuminate. Richard Hannon sent the progressive STORMY CLOUDS to take her place in the field.

The ground came up good to soft on the day with a cold wind sweeping across the track. The field of five headed to post with Stormy Clouds heading the market at 1/3. She was well away from her wide stall taking a hold early. Sean allowed her to stride on from the three furlong marker and she really picked up. She was kept on the bridle up until the final half furlong, where she went to win her race by 2 ¼ lengths. ‘She has bags of speed and felt like she was in second gear the whole way. She couldn’t have been anymore impressive in the manner she went about it’ commented Sean. Richard said after the race ‘She has kept progressing every time and like Sean was saying we are not quite sure how good she is. She has a great cruising speed and just seems to keep finding. She definitely deserves to take her place in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. She is a smashing filly who will keep improving.’
