Larchmont Lad

The first day of the three day Newmarket festival gets underway today and Richard has three runners. WHIP NAE NAE kicks off preceding s in the Nursery, coming out of Maiden company for the first time. ‘He keeps running well in Maidens but there is always one better, however the step across to Nurseries is to suit and I think he is in there off a very lean mark.’ LARCHMONT LAD takes his chance in the Somerville Stakes for Michael Geoghegan, off the back of a promising run in a competitive Listed event up at Doncaster. ‘He has always shown plenty at home and the other day his fitness just gave out up towards the line having had a bit of time between runs. He is in great order and I can see him running a big race.’ The final contender on Day one is WAR GLORY who has been consistent all year. ‘He is potentially still very well handicapped and I can see him running well again today. The conditions look ideal and with Ryan Moore on board it could be a winning partnership.’

The same amount of runners take their chances on Day two. NATIONS ALEXANDER ran last time in the Lowther Stakes having come out of a win in the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket. ‘She will really appreciate the step back up to the seven furlongs and this looks another nice opportunity to get some more black type. She is in great form and having had a month between runs she should be fresh and ready to go.’ Two runners in the Maidens, NO NOT AGAIN is having his second start. ‘He ran green last time at Newbury but stuck on nicely to hold on for third, with the necessary improvement I can see him running a nice race.’ The other is SUFI who is having his first run in a race. ‘He is a nice horse by Pivotal who should come on plenty for the experience. He has been working ok at home and so we will get a good guide on where we are at tomorrow.’
