Mehmas wins his racecourse debut

Three runners at Chester on day 2 of the May meeting. MEHMAS a son of Acclamation, bought by Peter and Ross Doyle at the Craven Breeze Up Sale for Al Shaqab, took his place in the two year old contest under the infamous Frankie Dettori. In what looked a hot contest on paper, the pace was on from the start. Frankie bided his time in the second half of the field and turning for home he weaved a passage through the pack to assert his authority late on. ‘He has been very straightforward since he arrived with us. His breeze was very good and his attitude was great, so he was a must have for us at the sales. He will improve plenty for that experience and looks a real Royal Ascot type. The option is there to run him in the National before making a decision which race to target. He’s all speed and looks a very natural runner’ Richard commented after the run.
