A busy week at the Premier Sale

Mon 02 September 2019

We bought twenty-two yearlings at Doncaster last week in what is one of our busier sales of the year and where we bought Mums Tipple out of last year as well as the likes of Barney Roy, Toormore, Olympic Glory in the past. This year we bought a selection of yearlings by proven and unproven sires with some familiar pedigrees;

We trained Mehmas to win the July Stakes and the Richmond Stakes in 2016 and his first crop are now yearlings. We purchased two of his sons including lot 50, a half brother to Shamwari Lodge who we trained to win a Group 3 and is also the dam of reliable handicapper Oh This Is Us who won again this week.

Another sire who also had his first crop of yearlings on offer is Middle Park Stakes winner The Last Lion. We purchased one of his daughters, lot 76 who hails from the family of four-time Group 1 winner Cracksman.

Cable Bay is making a good start with his two-year-old runners and we purchased two of his progeny including lot 99 a racy filly from a fast family which includes Shamandar and Reynaldothewizard.

Footstepsinthesand is understandably a sire we are fond of with his sons Threat and Mums Tipple being two horses of ours with a lot of potential going into next year. We purchased a colt and a filly by him with lot 246 a noticeable physical.

Another stallion who we have had plenty of luck with and a horse who has developed into a hugely successful sire is Acclamation. As well as Mehmas, we also trained Harbour Watch, another group winning son of his. We bought five yearlings by Acclamation with some impressive physicals including lot 432, a colt out of Midnight Oasis who is a brother to five winners.
