Brexit Shines At Brighton

Wed 22 August 2018

Today marks the start of the York Ebor Festival and Richard is heading there in great form having gained an across the card double on Monday and a winner on Tuesday. Yesterday’s winner came courtesy of BREXITMEANSBREXIT. The daughter of Helmet was ridden by Rossa Ryan and travelled well throughout. Once she was asked to pick she stretched nicely and put the race to bed in good style. ‘She is a very consistent filly but has struggled to get her head in front. This looked a perfect opportunity for her and hopefully she can take some confidence going forward. She seemed to like the track and so we can look back her in a few weeks’ time.’

Richard just has runners at York today starting with WATAN who won convincingly on debut at Goodwood. The son of Toronado was green in running but did win the race with plenty in hand. ‘I have always liked him and thought he would go close first time out. When they win like that they tend to be decent horses. This looks a logical next step for him and hopefully he can be there abouts. He has improved since his first run.’

The other two runners at York take their place in the six furlong Nursery. GINGER NUT and MOYASSAR. ‘Ginger Nut has done nothing but improve and won well in the Super Sprint. She ran very well last time stepped up to six furlongs and should be right there again today. Moyassar is stepping into Nursery company for the first time having run very well in Novice events. He won impressively at Chelmsford and then got beat last time in a tactical race. He looks perfect for this sort of race and should be right there.’
