The British flat season has come to an end, which means our main focus now turns to training up the new yearlings over the winter months, ready for their two-year-old campaigns next year.
We have had a great year, with 106 winners and over £2.5M in prize money won. Once again, we would like to thank our loyal owners for their continued support, all the jockeys who have ridden for us this season and to our brilliant, hardworking team back at home. Stable staff are a massive part of the operation and they put so much time and attention into their horses each and every day.
Serene Seraph and Blue Lemons will be our last serious contenders of the year. The Listed Bosra Sham, which is a fillies only race at Newmarket, takes place this coming Friday 3rd November and Serene Seraph will be lining up to take her chance in the race. The Group 3 Horris Hill, run at Newbury, has been re-schulded for Saturday 4th Nobember. This fixture was abadaonned last weekend due to a water logged track. This is a massive step up in conditions for Blue Lemons, but he will be dropping back down to his winning distance of seven furlongs.
There will be some horses who will continue in training over the next couple of months and will be running on the all-weather, but the majority of the older horses will soon be roughed off and given a well-earned break over the Winter. They will continue to ride out in order to maintain their fitness, but will be on a reduced workload and be kept nice and fresh ready for next season.
We have said goodbye to three stable stars – Chindit, Lusail and Happy Romance. They are now settling into stud life and we can't wait to see their offspring in the near future.
There are some nice, highly rated horses to look forward too next season. We are very excited to see how Rosallion shapes up next year. His main target will be the 2000 Guineas and we will likely aim him for one of the trial days beforehand.
Classic, Mums Tipple, Tacarib Bay, Witch Hunter, Haatem and Son, to name a few, will all be staying here during the Winter and will be given an easy time until they are brought back into work early part of next year. We like to give them a change of scenery during this colder weather and so they will be exploring the woods and riding out with the yearlings.
We are lucky to have our own breaking in team and facilities, so a lot of the yearlings have already started riding and are bopping and bouncing around the training gallops. We will continue long reining and lunging over Christmas and will have all the yearlings ridden by the New Year.
We are renowned for our two-year-old runners and look forward to getting them to the racecourse next year. It’s too early to tell if we have another superstar in the making, but they will all be given a chance to prove themselves and we have high hopes for another successful season next year.
