Craven Meeting - Day Three

Thu 20 April 2023

The Rowley Mile, Newmarket

THURSDAY – NEWMARKET

1:50

Should’vebeenaring (Alex Voikhansky)
He ran a solid race at Newcastle last time when the winner probably got first run, but he clearly retains all his ability and he could be a very interesting proposition in a Handicap with a decent 7lbs claimer on board.

Immortal Beauty (Ryan Moore)
It took her a few attempts to get her head in front but she’s a tough, honest filly with lots of talent. A stiff six furlongs here will suit, because she stays further, and she’s been moving well at home. She might need the run but I don’t think I’ve left a great deal to work on in all honesty.

Swift Asset (Pat Dobbs)
He was pretty smart last year and has quite a lot of speed so we’ll probably make plenty of use of that here. However this is a very competitive Handicap and he wouldn’t want the ground any softer.

Ehraz - NR

4:45

Playactor (Ryan Moore)
He’s from a family steeped with winners which stretches back to Zarkava so we’re hopeful he can develop into a smart colt. I was very pleased with his debut at Lingfield where he shaped with great promise and will have learnt plenty. We’re going straight up to a mile and a quarter which will suit and he won’t be far away. He could be a very nice horse.

Prince Maxi (Kevin Stott)
He’s a colt by Sea The Stars who goes well in his work and we’ve also taken him away to gallop. He’s entered in the Derby, but that is a long, long way off yet so don’t get get carried away, but hopefully he’ll run a nice race.

5:15

Land Of Summer (Pat Dobbs)
She didn’t quite go on from her debut win at Brighton but still ran some nice races in defeat and she could be quite interesting off her revised mark of 80. She handles cut in the ground but might just need this.

Zabbie (Sean Levey)
She’s a real tough filly with a great attitude and always tries her best. She wouldn’t want it soft so the more it dries out the better and this is her trip.
