Mammas Girl wins the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes

NEWMARKET – WEDNESDAY

1:50

Supreme King (Sean Levey)

He’s still a Maiden, but has put up some good efforts in defeat, including last time on his first run in a Handicap at Nottingham and I think he’s improved a lot fitness-wise for that. The Handicapper hasn’t taken any chances and whacked him up 4lbs to 83, so there’s definitely no margin for error and while I don’t think he wants it too soft, he seemed to handle it last time, so has a solid chance.

Seductive Power (Jim Crowley)
We’ve always thought a lot of him and he’s already posted two very good efforts on the All-Weather this spring, so comes here fit and well and shouldn’t have any problem with the ground.

3:35 Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3)

Mamma’s Girl (Sean Levey)

She was very impressive on debut over course and distance in October and to be honest we thought she’d go pretty close because her work had been decent and we hope she will develop into a very smart filly. There have been several winners come out of that race, so the form is reasonably strong and this will give us a clearer idea of what we have. She’s in the Guineas and I would guess she’d need to run very well for that to be considered – and I think she should be.

4:10

Liv My Life (Pat Dobbs)

She’s a nicely bred filly by Awtaad, who’s bred to get further and she’ll also improve a lot for this run. That said, we haven’t had many two-year-old runners yet, but this filly has been showing up nicely at home and will hopefully run well. She’s actually quite speedy.

5:20

Great Bedwyn (Pat Dobbs)

He won his Maiden well at Newcastle last time and steps into a Handicap for the first time here off a mark of 80 and the third has subsequently come out and won so the form should be ok. He’s an obvious improver and shouldn’t be far away.
