Goodwood Day 4

GOODWOOD – FRIDAY

1:10 Handicap
Mafia Power (Silvestre De Sousa)

He’s been hiked up in the weights following an easy victory at Haydock last time which was good to see because he’d run very well in all three starts prior and he’s a colt who we’ve always thought a great deal of. This is obviously another step up the ladder, and we are also going up a little bit in trip, but that won’t be an issue and he’s improving all the time so I wouldn’t swap him for anything else in the field.

1:45 G3 Oak Tree Stakes
Anna Nerium (Pat Dobbs)

She’s a tough, sweet mare who has been a brilliant servant down the years and will make an excellent broodmare whenever she finishes racing. She hasn’t run for a while but her work has been very good which shows she still retains plenty of ability and she’s already a course and distance winner which counts for plenty around here. It’s an open little race but this has been the target and she has an excellent record first time out.

2:15 G3 Thoroughbred Stakes
Mystery Power (Silvestre De Sousa)

He ran his best race for quite some time when rallying for second at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago and we’ve tried to keep him as fresh as we can at home to keep him happy so he arrives here in very good form. He’s up against a couple of improvers, and I was particularly impressed with William Haggas’s horse at York last time, but it’s a small field and anything can happen.

2:45 UNIBET GOLDEN MILE
Urban Icon (Pat Dobbs)

The form of his run behind Mohaather at Ascot isn’t looking too shabby at all now is it? And this will be his first run in a handicap, that we won last year with Beat Le Bon (off 104). Urban Icon is rated 109 which proves he’s a very classy horse and he’s extremely consistent so I’m not surprised to learn there has been plenty of cash around for him with Unibet.

4:20 UNIBET Nursery

Thank You Next (Pat Dobbs)
She is a very speedy filly who backed up her very good debut third with a gutsy success on the all-weather at Kempton last time. She continues to improve at home and this fast track will really suit so I’d be pretty hopeful of a solid run.

Risqué (Thore Hammer-Hansen)
This should be a lot more up her street as opposed to the Super Sprint at Newbury last time and experience in those races will be on her side here. She’s got a lot of pace and has enough ability to run a decent race in this.

4:55 Maiden Fillies’
Enoughisgoodenough (Silvestre De Sousa)

She is a very well bred filly from a good family who has been doing everything right at home although she wouldn’t want the ground to be too firm. However, Silvestre has been down for a sit on her and liked what he saw so let’s hope she lives up to her name.

Rhythm (Ryan Moore)
She shaped well on debut at Sandown when coming from off the pace over five furlongs so the step up to six will definitely be in her favour and that outing will have done her the world of good mentally and physically, therefore I’d be hopeful of a very bold show.
