Everyone in the yard was delighted to see Bunyola Bay produce a winning performance in the Gowran Classic, continuing his progression with a thoroughly deserved victory.
The son of Ghaiyyath had already shown a steady improvement throughout his campaign, and arrived to Gowran Park on the back of several encouraging efforts. Bunyola Bay broke new ground by being the first British runner in the €200,000 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Gowran Classic, taking the win after making virtually all in the 9 1/2-furlong feature. Sean Levey gave him a great ride, taking the initiative to get him in front from stall one where he bolted home three and a quarter lengths clear.
His attitude has been great so far and it was pleasing to see him put everything together on the track.
His win topped off an already successful Monday, as Aperoll won impressively on debut at Newbury, with River King following suit by taking the next race.
