Lusail Retires To Stud

Lusail

We are thrilled to announce the exiting news that our dual Group 2 winner Lusail will retire to stud and stand at Haras de Bouquetot for 2024. He is joining a full roster of stallions, including fellow RH graduates Armor and Olympic Glory.

The Al Shaqab Racing-owned colt has been a brilliantly consistent horse both at home and abroad, including in France and Saudi Arabia. He started it all off with a bang when he won first time out in a Maiden at York back in May 2021. He then landed the G2 Tattersalls July Stakes at Newmarket and the G2 Gimcrack Stakes at York in the same year.

As a three-year-old he came 2nd in the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and finished 3rd in the G1 Prix Jean Prat at Deauville.

Trainer Richard Hannon has described him as being “a real rocket, and one of the easiest and most relaxed” horses he’s ever trained. He truly has a brilliant temperament to match his excellent talent and quality on the track.

He has a busy three years of racing behind him and will now be able to relax into his new role as a stallion in France. It is safe to say he will be sorely missed by everyone in the yard!

We wish Lusail and the whole Al Shaqab Racing team the best of luck with this next venture and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
