It is always an exciting time when the new yearlings start arriving at Herridge, and we have just returned from Goffs Orby Sales with a new group of youngsters to look forward to.
As ever, we were delighted to be working alongside our longstanding bloodstock partners Peter & Ross Doyle, whose knowledge, experience and eye for a horse have been such an important part of our operation for many years.
The Orby is one of the great yearling sales and there was plenty of quality on offer, so finding the right horses for the yard is never straightforward. Ross spent plenty of time looking through the catalogue and inspecting the youngsters, and we were pleased to come away with a selection that we are really excited about.
Buying yearlings is always about looking ahead. At this stage they are full of potential but still have a lot of learning to do, and there is nothing better than watching them settle into the routine at home, get to know their surroundings and gradually start to show us what they might be capable of.
We have been fortunate to have some wonderful horses come through the yard over the years after being bought as yearlings, and hopefully this latest group can follow in their footsteps.
A big thank you, as always, to Ross for his hard work and for continuing to work so closely with us. These purchases are the beginning of a new chapter for each horse, and we are very much looking forward to seeing how they develop over the coming months.
With a grand total of 35 new yearlings since August across numerous sales, there is plenty of work ahead, but for now, welcome to Herridge!
