Pearl Wins Sweetly For Dunaden

Thu 30 August 2018

Two nice winners at Kempton on Wednesday evening with SWEET PEARL breaking her maiden tag and MAAWARD winning under a penalty. The Qatar Racing owned filly Sweet Pearl showed plenty of promise on debut and managed to show good improvement in what looked a better race on paper. She was always handy and when asked to pick up by Oisin Murphy she did so readily and went about her business in good style. ‘That was a nice win and she really seems to be getting the hang of things. She will no doubt improve again and so we need to look at options going forward. She has done very little between her first and second run and she put her experience to good use.’

This was Dunadens first winner in the UK and looks a promising type.

The second winner for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum was having his third career start having won impressively last time out at the same venue. He was smartly away from the gates and got across to take up the lead. He travelled powerfully in running and stuck on well for pressure. ‘He is a lovely colt and covers plenty of ground. He wouldn’t have any problem with dropping back to even six furlongs. He has a lot of speed. We will see what mark we get now before making plans going forward.’
