Warrior's Spirit with winning owner Amanda Turner
Newbury Saturday and a winner came under the ideal conditions for WARRIORS SPIRIT. He was having his second run and being bought as a yearling from Tatts Book 1 that meant there was not only the Plus10 bonus up for grabs but also an extra £25,000 for being a graduate of Book 1. Pat held him in in midfield before coming with a powerful run inside the final furlong to get his head in front. ‘He is a nice horse who we have always thought plenty of. He travelled sweetly throughout and was strong late on. With these bonus’s his prize money for winning a maiden is more than £40,000 for his owners Amanda Turner and Pineapple Stud. He is still learning and I can see him improving again from that run. I will give him some time and see what the handicapper has to say before looking ahead to his next run.’
Another winner came in the shape of CONTROL CENTRE at Wolverhampton under the ex jumps jockey Timmy Murphy. ‘He was all wrong at the weights but seem to win well in the end. He is capable of winning a handicap off a run like that.’
Today’s action comes from Leicester and Kempton where Richard has seven runners. The first two races from Leicester and there are three runners. ‘FABRIC is a lovely filly owned by Highclere that won well on her previous start at Nottingham. She should improve again off that and I can see her running a big race. EXPRESS in the same race should improve for step into nurseries. She ran well on her final start in maidens and appears well in herself. WALKING IN RHYTHM takes a step back top sellers and should be hard to beat. I can see her also running very well.’ The other runners are from Kempton, where at least three of the four runners have very good chances. ‘CARAMURU and CASTELLATED were both impressive on debut and should both improve plenty. TORCH has been running well all year and I can see him being competitive again here.’
