Tattersalls Book I Review

Wed 16 October 2019

The Tattersalls Book 1 yearling sale provides the highest quality of bloodstock on offer at public auction in Europe and arguably the world and we were successful in purchasing fourteen yearlings there this year.

Lot 52 was the first lot we bought and the most expensive yearling we purchased so far this year, a Dark Angel colt out of Stellar Path, a Group 3 in France and the USA who is also a sister to Australian Group 2 winner Sir Patrick Moore and popular globetrotter Nyaleti. He is an eye-catching physical and a strong and athletic colt so an exciting one for next year.

Dark Angel has established himself as a quality sire and we purchased three others by him at this sale including a filly from the family of Pipalong and a colt who is a half brother to two black type winners in Portage and Cape Magic.

Awtaad is a sire who has already made his mark from fairly modest beginnings with foals and yearlings selling well so far. This is his first crop of yearlings and they look to be nice athletic types. We purchased two lots by Awtaad including a colt out of Venetian Beauty which is a half brother to a Group 3 winner and a second colt out of Kesara, who is a half brother to Diomed Stakes winner Zaaki.

Ed Sackville purchased lot 145, a filly by sire of the moment Kingman for us who is from the family of both Le Havre and Polar Falcon and we have also bought yearlings by the likes of Iffraaj, New Approach and Nathanial at this sale.

One standout physical was lot 478 by French Guineas winner Make Believe who has made a good start with his first two-year-old runners and this colt is especially strong and athletic and looks to be a real two-year-old type.
