A wintery feel to the evening at Chelmsford as summer is definitely on its way out. FEED THE GOATER who has been the model of consistency this year went off the 100/30 Favourite of 13 runners. Under the talented James Doyle, he settled midfield in what was a strong gallop up front. He was pulled out wide in the straight and wound up to propel himself to the front in fin style, winning by a length and a quarter going away. 'He is a fun horse to have in the yard and looks one who will still progress next year. He is straightforward in his races and seemed to do it pretty well last night. I may give him a couple more this year and then give him a break.'
Today's action comes from Ascot where there are four chances across the card. The first of those is IN THE RED who ran very well on his seasonal reappearance last time and looked to nearly win apart from getting tired late on. 'If he runs as well as he did at Leicester he should be right there. He appears to have come on for the run.' WAR WHISPER and OWER FLY take their chances in the six furlong handicap. 'The former horse ran last week and hated the track, he should be much better on this ground and the flatter track. OWER FLY has had a good season winning two but may find this a tougher task.' The last is PALAWAN who has been disappointing this year having been so impressive as a two year old. 'He has been gelded now and hopefully he might get his mind more on the job. His home work has been great so it will be interesting to see what happens today.'
