NEWMARKET – TUESDAY
1:50
Dark Thirty (Ryan Moore)
He’s got a decent record fresh, so I wasn’t surprised to see him win first time out at Doncaster and he’s comfortable over six and seven furlongs. Decent ground suits him well and the Handicapper hasn’t been too harsh in putting him up another 3lbs.
Aramram (Joe Leavy)
He was unlucky not to win the valuable Handicap at Southwell
last time, but he’s off the same mark here and Joe takes off a handy 3lbs. This is a competitive race but he’s very consistent and is more than capable of making his presence felt.
2:25
King Of Cities (Ryan Moore)
He got beaten in a tactical race at Newbury last backend, and the ground was plenty soft enough anyway, so I wouldn’t read too much into that run. The ground will be right up his street and he’s definitely ready for a step up in trip. It’s early days with him but his work is always to a high standard, and he’s been away to gallop so is straight enough to do himself justice.
3:00
Persica (Ryan Moore)
He’s come on a lot since the Winter Derby, so will strip much fitter here, and this race has been the plan for a while. He’s a much more relaxed colt now and is maturing all the time. This is his trip and I’m very hopeful.
4:10
Harry’s Girl (Tom Marquand)
She’s got a very speedy pedigree and is pretty forward in her work. Obviously we’re not sure who we’re up against, but she’s quite precocious and ready to go.
