Witch Hunter Rolls Back the Years in Thirsk Summer Cup
Veteran campaigner Witch Hunter produced a pleasing performance to return to the winner’s enclosure with victory in the William Hill Summer Cup Handicap at Thirsk on Saturday.
The seven-year-old, a familiar face in some of Britain’s most competitive handicaps throughout his career, showed all of his trademark determination under Seamus Cronin, who made full use of his valuable 5lb claim to guide the gelding to a deserved success.
The win was richly deserved for Witchy, who has been a wonderful servant to us and to his connections throughout his career. He showed that his enthusiasm and ability remain very much intact as he recorded another notable success.
The £50,000 Summer Cup was another welcome addition to our tally for the season. For Witchy, it was a thoroughly deserved return to winning ways and another memorable chapter in the career of one of the yard’s old favourites.
